Friends of Mulanje Orphans (FOMO) is a UK registered charity working in the south of Malawi, which is one of the poorest countries in Africa. FOMO support over 3,500 children orphaned through AIDS and poverty.

£5 Food Certificate

Will enable FOMO to provide an orphaned child with meals for 3 months

Malawi is facing its worst Food crisis in ten years so the support we provide is more important then ever, FOMO is massively increasing its feeding programme to try and address the horrors of malnutrition and starvation,

Children who come to our centres receive several meals each week. Their diet is mainly maize, beans and pigeon peas. The younger children receive a specially prepared Food_Certificate called Likuni Phala made from Soya beans, maize and micro nutrients
£10 School Uniform Certificate
Will enable FOMO to provide two orphaned children with School Uniform.

Children have to have school uniform to attend most school.

FOMO has its own sewing school where the children are taught to make some parts of the uniform themselves. Not only does this keep costs down but it provides them with valuable skills for the future.
£15 Goat Certificate Top

Will enable FOMO to provide a Goat to build up the herd to help feed the children.

Meat is very expensive and providing a Goat will ensure that the children gain farming experience and much need protein.
£25 New Roof Certificate

Will enable FOMO to replace a leaking root

Most orphans are cared for by elderly grandmothers or older siblings. They do not have the skills or resources to repair their houses and in many cases the roof leak so badly that there is no where dry for the children to lie down and sleep at night.

Your gift will enable FOMO to replace the roof of a house like this one. After a good night's sleep the children will be far better equipped to concentrate at school instead of being exhausted. The removal of the worry and discomfort caused by a decaying home will lift a huge burden from their carers.
£100 School Fees Certificate

Will enable FOMO to pay for an orphaned child to attend secondary School_Certificate for a year.

All secondary education is fee paying in Malawi. Your gift provides for school fees, uniform, books, equipment and if necessary, basic living costs if children need to board at school as they live too far away.

FOMO currently has 140 children attending secondary School_Certificate and this number is set to increase. Education is vital to provide the children with a route out of poverty and Malawi desperately needs able and qualified young people to lead the country in the future.
